BIO of Evelyn of Crinan

I have always loved dogs, so it was no surprise that one day this would lead me to showing and breeding.

Combined with my lack of knowledge and an eagerness to start breeding I purchased a young sable female.  The breeder assured me she was show material, however I quickly discovered after taking her to a sanction match that she was not going to make it at the shows.  Not wanting to give up, I bred her once to a handsome sable male, Can Ch Shadowdale Come Fly With Me (a Peter Great-grandson).  This resulted in my first homebred girl Crinan’s Keepsake (my Reserve queen) who produced my first Can Ch Crinan’s Star Blazer a multi group placer.

In over 30+ years of breeding, I have purchased three dogs and they have played a major role in my foundation and in my lines today.
As a breeder one is always learning, if you think you know it all, you will be mistaken.  I feel that my responsibility to this breed is to carry on with the bloodlines that have been entrusted to me. I want every generation I produce to reflect the time and commitment of past breeders and my dedication to this wonderful breed.  I research my lines keeping in mind strengths and weaknesses to produce better dogs, healthy dogs and ‘Shelties with Distinction'.  I look for a type that is pleasing to the eye and have sound movement.
As a breeder, one always strives to win at a National show and I am proud to have achieved such an honor.  My homebred girl ‘Amie’ MBPIG Can Ch Crinan’s Diva, won First Place in the Open Sable Bitch class and followed with winning Reserve Winners Bitch at the 2011 ASSA National over 250+ girls under respected Judge Edna Gammill.  Special thanks to Shelley McHugh-Boumans for beautifully presenting Amie to her win and helping me make my dream a reality.

I am fortunate to have the talented handler Shelley McHugh-Boumans as a friend.  Shelley has helped condition my new hopefuls in preparation for their Championship and finished many of my dogs to their Championship Title.

Crinan is also home to Best Puppy In Show, Multiple Group placing, Multiple Best Puppy In Group winners, 2 American Champions, 34 Canadian Champions (produced & owned) and producer of numerous Performance/Obedience and Agility Titled dogs.

Special thanks to Daphne Allen of Candega, my mentor and friend.  I am indebted to Daphne for sharing her knowledge and having faith in me to succeed.  A gift I shall always treasure.

To new friends that I have met along the way, I thank you for being a part of my life.  I wish everyone continued success in the show ring, good health and happiness.
